A respectful game

Our Football Fridays continued today with an away game against Leigham Primary school. The sun was shining and the team were in good spirits as they warmed up for the game.
As a mark of respect and showing real empathy, the boys requested that they held a minutes silence to remember the Brazilian football team and all those that were involved in the plane crash this week. The Leigham staff and team were impressed with this and only too happy to join them in showing their respect - Well done boys!
The game started well, both teams showing good energy and focus, with Wembury having most possession of the ball.  Despite some great attempts on target the ball just refused to hit the back of the net and when the first goal finally came, it was Leigham that were celebrating. Half time team talks and a shuffle of positions and the boys came back fighting. The equalizer happened in the last few seconds after a series of attacks on goal by the Wembury boys, Aidan found the ball with his head and Rafa made sure it went in for a well earned draw.
