Governors

Welcome to the Governors' section!

Why do schools need Governors?

Governors help their school improve and provide the best possible education for their pupils.

What Governors Do

Governing bodies are expected to play three key roles:

  1. they provide a strategic overview
  2. they act as a critical friend to the school and
  3. they ensure accountability

A Governor's Committment

The time committment is to attend 2-3 meetings per term, usually starting at 5.15pm. Governors are also linked to an area of the School Development Plan and to at least one curriculum subject area. They are also invited in, throughout the year, to see the school in action and to attend events. Further information on the role of the Governor can be found in the link at the bottom of this page.
