Governors

The school’s 14 governors are a mix of parents, school staff, and people from the wider community. All are valued and equal members of the governor team. Governors meet monthly and together they are responsible for the strategic direction of the school, promoting high standards of educational achievement and ensuring our resources are used to maximum impact.  Within this brief, each governor has designated areas of responsibility. As well as attending scheduled meetings, Governors visit during the school day on occasion, carrying out monitoring visits and getting to know the school well. Training and support are available to help them develop into the role. This includes in-house induction, mentoring and support as well as access to external governor training. All new governors are expected to attend Devon new governor training. The term of office is 4 years.

If you are interested in supporting our school by taking on this important and rewarding role and would like further information or an informal discussion with a governor, please contact us via our Clerk to Governors, Mrs B. Guthrie, on wemburyclerk@wembury-primary.devon.sch.uk.
