Year 5, along with children from Oreston and Dunstone, enjoyed a brilliant day at Hele's School, working with Year 9 'Heroes'. Delivered by Humanutopia (social enterprise company) and the Year 9 ambassadors, our children engaged in lots of fun and challenging activities. They thought about their attitudes and behaviours as well as their aspirations for life. After a series of workshops prior to today, the Heroes acted as coaches and mentors for their younger peers. The day was highly interactive and gave the children many opportunities to think about solutions to common problems they could face in life. So many children came out of their shell and their comfort zone! It was inspiring to see lots of them flourish in the various activities. The ambassadors were also able to give the children an insight in to secondary school life. One child admitted that they had now realised that they didn't need to be so scared when trying new things; another mentioned how fun it was to meet new friends from other schools. Thank you to Hele's for organising a wonderful day, Humanutopia for delivering it and the Heroes for the fantastic job they did throughout the sessions. Well done to everyone involved!
