More sporting success

What a week in Wembury! Straight after the successes of last week with our Wembury football tournament and the Bellboating wins, we began this week with our footballers going off to Newton Abbott for the Argyle Regional football finals. Having qualified for these finals earlier on this term, the team were incredibly excited (if not slightly aprehensive) about playing against these strongest sides from Plymouth, Exeter and Totnes. The matches were being held at the Devon FA headquarters which only added to the excitement of the day.

The team did amazingly well, battling their way through the first 4 matches in the group stages and wining their group to progress to the semi finals. An unfortunate goal from Sherwell valley led to our untimely exit from the final stages. A few fallen faces as the realisation kicked in, but this was short lived as the team reflected on what an achievement it was for us to have got to that point. What a team they have been and a real credit to themselves and Wembury Primary - Well done boys!

The very next day, it was the turn of our Wembury Rugby stars as they ventured off to the RFU Plymouth tag rugby festival being hosted at Plymouth Albion's home ground. 40 teams from Plymouth schools were there to represent their schools and embrace the magical game of Rugby.

Wembury again did themselves proud. 7 games were played in all with our Wembury wonders winning 6 out of the 7 games! An amazing accomplishment, superb team work throughout and a fantastic atmosphere. Thank you to OPM rugby for sponsoring the event, RFU and Pssp for the organising of the day and well done to all that took part - another proud day!

As if this wasn't enough, the Tri golf and super 6 golf tournaments were held the following day, this time at Central Park. Our Wembury golfers doned their sunhats and ventured off to try and get a whole in one. Tommy very nearly did! Wembury triumphed again to bring home the silver medals and qualifying for the level 3 finals later this term. Wow! Well done to our super 6 golfers, an amazing achievement!

The termly Boccia event was also held this week at Tor bridge high, giving another 3 of our super stars the opportunity to enjoy this really skillful,  inclusive, tactical game in a friendly, relaxed indoor environment. The smiles on their faces and the singing in the car on the way home sum up how they felt about their afternoon - fantastic.

What a week Wembury! Time for a much needed rest over half term and then we start all over again with a rounders tournament, athletics at Brickfields, school games day and our swimming term now our outdoor pool is open. Bring it on, Wembury is ready!!
