Mummy Madness!

We've had lots of fun this week learning about the Ancient Egyptian process of mummification! Here are some photos of the children having a go at mummifying each other, before getting down to some serious learning about why and how the Egyptians went about the real thing.

The children should now be able to tell you all the gory details about how the brain and other internal organs were removed and stored in canopic jars before the bodies were dried out and wrapped. Hopefully they can explain why the heart was left inside the body and talk about the significance of amulets and jewellery that were placed on the mummies before they were buried.
