Coombe Dean Football challenge

News of the recent success of our fabulous footballers has travelled to Coombe Dean and the ex-Wembury year 7 pupils decided it was time to challenge us to a match. The hope was for the teams to have a MUGA match making use of our wonderful new resource but unfortunately due to the wet weather our markings had not yet been done and the surface was quite slippery so we decided it best to take the game onto the field.

We could just about make out the players through the mist of the afternoon but this did nothing to put off the players, particularly knowing there was a new trophy at stake!

After a bit of a shuffle of players they were off and Wembury took a fast lead. As always our boys, past and present, gave it their all with a super show of football, some fancy footwork, great team spirit and dedication to the game.

Wembury won on this occassion and accepted the Wembury/Coombe dean trophy graciously.

We would like to take this opportunity to mention Rafa. He has been one of our fabulous footballers over the last two years we have been playing as a school team and this was to be his last game with us as he moves to pastures new. We wish him the best of luck with everything and we look forward to hearing of his future successes, he will be missed!

Thanks to Coombe Dean for the fabulous idea and allowing the year 7s to attend. We are already looking forward to a re match!
