Not your typical (incredibly early) Sunday morning this week, 44 of our Wembury wonders laced up their trainers for the epic finale of their half marathon journey. For 8 weeks now, these children have been attending running club running a mile at a time through mud, wind and rain. They have pushed themselves and motivated eachother and have managed to run 12 miles leading up to the final mile which was run as part of Plymouth's Ocean city half marathon.
When thousands of people get together, children and adults, with the sole purpose of running, the atmosphere can only be described as electric. Helped by the setting of the magnificant Plymouth Hoe and the glorious sunshine, the morning was gearing up to be a very special one indeed.
The adult race began and then it was over to the children of Plymouth to run, run, run! Running alongside these amazing children is truly an inspiring experience. 3,000 children in their race t shirts giving their all. Every single child that took part should be truly proud of themselves, but a special mention has to go to 3 of our Wembury boys, Kai who came in 3rd place, Dylan who claimed 5th and Harvey who claimed 7th place.
A huge thankyou to all that organised the event, GHQ training and Plymouthssp for making it such a fantastic experience - Bring on next year!!
