Our Learning Journey

On this page you will find pictures, videos and other content, giving you a glimpse of our learning journey throughout Foundation.

We planted a variety of bedding plants around the school today (22.5.16). The weather didn't stop us - in fact it helped by watering the plants! We used trowels to dig the holes and then carefully bedded the plants in so that they were safe. Hopefully, you will see them in bloom soon!

Bird feeders

We enjoyed making feeders for our local birds today (15.4.16). It was a little bit messy mixing the lard and seeds together! We decorated biodegradable pots, scooped the mixture into them and hung them on the trees on the school field for our feathered friends to enjoy.

Welly Walk- Signs of Spring - Monday 15th March 2016

We went on a Welly walk to search for some signs of Spring. We had a fantastic hour exploring the fields, the hedges, the trees and loads more. We went to the allotments and saw Daisy and Poppy's mum. She was busy planting seeds. We asked lots of questions and discovered many facts about the seeds she was planting. After that we strolled along the small road that leads to Barton Farm. On the way we stopped at Mrs Richardson's mum's house to see what was growing there. There were plants all over the garden and they were just beginning to grow. We are going to visit again in one month and see how the garden has changed. We are also going to have a drink and cake. Yippee! We can't wait.

The next day we created some fantastic daffodil drawings.

Tree identification 11.3.16

We spent this morning looking at leaves and trees and how we can identify trees common to our local area. We had great fun making rubbings of trees and leaves whilst identifying the differences in the leaves. There are so many to look at - so we decided to focus on a few!
Chinese New Year in Foundation w/c 8th February

Chinese New Year was lots of fun.

We especially loved making vegetable stir-fry noodles.

We used peppers, garlic, spring onions, carrots and discovered ginger, mange tout, sugar snap peas ans soy sauce. We ate our noodles with chopsticks too... we were brilliant chopstick-ers!

Forest School Fun 3rd Feb- Making bugs and creatures

We had a great time in the school grounds making and creating bugs and creatures. We walked to the Forest School area loaded up with clay, string, scissors, straws and more. We worked in teams and on our own to make creatures. Some children worked well in groups, but most decided to make their own creatures. They ranged from spiders, frogs, mosquitos and a tree eating bug. We had a fantastic morning and loved the fresh air.
