PSSP Cross Country Championships

Our Year 6 cross country teams were out on the field competing once again this afternoon. But this time it was the main event - the Plymouth Schools Sports Partnership Level 2 Cross Country Championships at Staddiscombe fields. Once the Year 3/4 races were completed, our Year 6 girls team raced next, with super performances from all girls, the highlight being Ella who managed an incredible 3rd place! This was out of around 70-80 girls, from 16 schools. Well done to our girls team!

Our final race was the Year 6 boys, who were really up for the challenge after lots of waiting around. They all ran a superb race and at the half way point Henry and Azad were in 1st and 2nd place, with a large lead over 3rd place and Zac close behind in 5th. They managed to keep up the pace, finishing with a Wembury 1-2. Henry finished 1st, with Azad just behind in 2nd and Zac managed 4th. The rest of the team ran amazing races too with the boys finishing in 1st place overall, as a team, with quite a big margin between them and the 2nd place school. In fact they managed the best points total (based on individual positions) of all 8 races on the day. What an amazing achievement to finish in 1st place out of 16 schools as well as those remarkable individual positions. You were awesome, boys!

To qualify for the level 3 regional cross country championships in the new year, we needed to finish in 1st or 2nd overall, so the boys emphatically achieved this but the girls unfortunately just missed out. They still did incredibly well to finish in 4th place out of 16 schools! The boys Year 4 team also managed to finish in 1st place and the girls were 2nd, meaning these 3 teams have all qualified for the regional championships. Well done to every single one of you - we are all very proud of your achievements!
