It's brilliant to see democracy in action in school. Children from Years 1 - 6 voted for their new House Captains after the brave candidates delivered their excellent speeches. The children put lots of thought and effort in to their speeches. After writing them, they proof read, edited, re-wrote, edited and proof read some more, before finally delivering their speeches. Many of the children were nervous about this but they all did a brilliant job and the votes were very close. As well as our new House Captains, well done to all children who showed the courage and determination to volunteer for this role.
Of course there are many other important roles, such as prefects, school council members and anti-bullying ambassadors. Children in all of these very important roles have been wearing their badges with pride (although we are still waiting for some badges to arrive!). On top of that, there will be further leadership opportunities for the children over the coming weeks and months. Well done to all children for a super start to the year!
