On Thursday, Year 4 and 5 had election fever and took part in our mini general election. We spent time exploring what a general election is, how people vote and how we decide who to vote for. We watched clips from the main political parties and the children had the opportunity to discuss what issues they feel are important. Finally, they received their 'poll cards', went to the booths and cast their vote on the ballot slips. During maths, we collected the results and presented them using a bar chart. The winner, with a large majority, were the Green Party! It was fantastic to see the voters of the future so interested and enthusiastic.
