The Music Theatre Club gave three fantastic performances of YANOMAMO - A Rainforest Journey.
Yanomamo is a musical written for the World Wildlife Fund to introduce children to the threats facing the world’s rainforests.
40 children aged 8 to 11 rehearsed after school on Fridays during March, April and May. Nearly all had solo or small group singing roles and many had dialogue too. They were joined by a chorus of another 40 pupils to present their show three times to parents and friends. In all, two thirds of Key Stage 2 children are involved.
Two Year 10 pupils who enjoyed their schools shows at Wembury returned to help with the production as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Wembury School has a long tradition of music and drama performances and recent Music Theatre Club productions have included Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Ozzie, an adaptation of the Wizard of Oz.
