MacMillan Coffee Afternoon

Last Friday we held a MacMillan Coffee afternoon 2.30-4.00pm. This was very well supported both at the event and with your kind donations of cakes – thank you. Hopefully you had an opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new parents and families over a coffee and cake? Thank you for your support and in helping us raise money for a good cause. We will let you know the total soon.

FroWS AGM is coming up on Wednesday October 10th @ 6.00pm. It would be great to see new faces, if only for support and finding out what FroWS have been up to or perhaps you feel you have something to offer? This amazing organisation raise valuable, additional funds to provide resources for all our pupils and school. If you want another opportunity to meet other parents, join in the fun and socialisation, again all for a good cause – then look no further than FroWS! We’d love to see you there, so please make a date in your diary.

Curriculum Activities

Please remember to check out your child's class pages to find out more of what they have been up. These are just an example of some of the learning.

Foundation - Getting to grips with their First Phonics

Year 1 - Art meets Science

Year 3 - Discovering Ancient Artefacts

Year 6 - Free Writing

We are getting an increasing number of families who are not booking meals online, in advance, with some accumulating a debt to the school. Please ensure all meals are booked online, in advance, even if your child is entitled to a free-school meal. The systems are set up to ensure the kitchen staff cook according to demand; if your child is not on the generated list the likelihood is they will not get their choice of meal, or worse still may not get a meal! The school runs the kitchen as part of its business and like any business goods need to be paid for in advance. ALL pupils requiring a school meal must be booked in advance. Where payment is required any outstanding debts must be cleared and meals paid for in advance. Thank you.

Design Technology & other Parent Funded Activities Contribution – 2018/19

We would like to continue the system of collecting one annual payment of £5 to cover DT contributions and other school activities. (This contribution has not changed in over ten years.) For example last year this fund was used to pay for a variety of activities including subsidising some visitors, contributions towards various theme days, as well as resourcing various DT projects.

On occasions as part of their DT work some children may be given £1 to purchase items for their project. This provides the children with a budgeting exercise as part of their DT planning. To clarify, only children who have paid the voluntary contribution will be given the £1 on these occasions. Also please could you provide any information regarding food allergies as the children often take part in cooking and food tasting exercises. Please make your payment via ParentPay.

Essential Reminders

You should have received, and returned, the Home/School Agreement and the new Pupil Photographic Consent Form, earlier this term. Without these returned your child may not have access to full IT use, or attend local trips and events. If you have not yet returned these, could you do so as a matter of urgency, and to ensure we are GDPR compliant please? Office staff will be chasing up any missing documentation – thank you.

Data Collection Sheets

These annual forms require updating, however due to new GDPR regulations we have decided to hand these out at Parent & Pupil Consultations. These will take place on Tuesday 20th & Thursday 22nd November. If you are aware of changes in contact details these can be given to the office in advance of this form circulation. These forms are required to be returned, even if there are no changes; this can be done on the night or via the office direct, or if sending in with your child please ensure it is enveloped, in case of loss/misplacement.
