Christmas Draws Ever Nearer

A Cracking Christmas Lunch

Another school Christmas meal has passed, although this year the children seemed calmer! Plenty was served and eaten – it was a real feast. Our FroWs elves did an amazing ‘silver service’ serving, ensuring children had crackers and a chocolate, lolly treat. (Many children managed to sneak the chocolate before the main meal!) Thank you to FroWS for the generosity of crackers and lollies, and of course their time. For photos and a news article please follow these links -

Christmas Lunch

Bonjour Les Amis

Last week KS1 & EYFS shared their dress rehearsal of ‘The Bossy King’ to our French, partner school in Locmaria Plouzane, via web cam. Apparently the children performed brilliantly and it was well received. I have yet to have the pleasure of seeing this performance and am very much looking forward to tomorrow.

On the last morning of school, this Friday, Year 6 will also be linking up with our French partners, sharing festivities and learning. (Yes we do keep going until the very last moment!)

We are looking forward to a group of Year 3, French pupils, visiting Plymouth and Wembury in April 2020.

Don’t forget KS2 will be holding a Christmas Sing-A-Long, in the school hall, on Thursday 19th December, from 2.00pm, parents and family members are invited too, where teas & mince pies will also be on sale. We look forward to seeing you there - you never know there may be some seasonal surprises!

PSHE Information for Parents

As many of you know we have been implementing the PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) Programme across our school called ‘Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE’.

The lessons since September have built children’s emotional literacy, self-esteem and knowledge of who they are and how they relate to each other and the world in a positive and healthy way. We are sure you will have heard about the Jigsaw Friends and Calm Me time.

As the materials are new, we warmly invite you to attend a session at school in which we will give you a transparent and comprehensive picture of what we are planning to teach in which year groups. The session will be taking place on Wednesday 22nd January 2020. We would request that children are not present at the meeting.

We hope you will be in agreement with us that this work is vitally important for children, that it needs to be done age-appropriately and that the Jigsaw Programme gives us a secure framework in which to do this. We do, as always, want to work in partnership with parents and carers, and  we hope you, like us, will see the materials in Jigsaw as educationally sound and beneficial to our children, and we look forward to sharing them with you and answering any questions you may have, in the New Year.

One of our School Development Plan objectives is to ‘Engage pupils in opportunities to develop greater global/environmental awareness’. In the New Year we shall be looking at projects and events to further support this. If you have any ideas please let us know.

One initiative we know of, and that no doubt we could all contribute to, is to Recycle Plastic Sweet Containers. The school has offered to be a collection point for the large tubs of sweets (full or empty!) that are in abundance over Christmas. So don’t throw them out, send them in to school in the New Year. Thank you.
