As you will be aware, I will be on a temporary secondment to Sherford Vale School, where I will be supporting leadership development, as of tomorrow. However, you have my assurances that I have not left Wembury and will be returning. (Although the earliest this is likely to be is Christmas, and could be longer.)
Whilst I am unable to provide an insight into the situation I want to assure you that we have an exceptionally strong leadership team in Wembury, both staff and governance. As a consequence, I know that the children will continue to flourish under the guidance of Mrs Chamberlain and Mrs Jackson, with support from our governors.
However, I would also like to assure those parents, especially of children in Year 3 & Year 5, that my secondment, and subsequent change of role for these class teachers, that there should be no difference to current class teaching. As both Mrs Chamberlain and Mrs Jackson have part-time roles, they are able to increase their non-teaching time, to cover headship across the week. (Both were keen to retain their teaching commitment which also demonstrates their commitment to the children in their care.)
I am greatly going to miss our amazing children, staff and community but will keep in regular contact. I have spoken to each class today so that children are also aware, and understand, the need to support when help is required. As Sheila Jenkins stated, this is a temporary appointment and is a testament to and recognition of the leadership at Wembury.
Ducks – Please don’t forget to buy a Duck @ £1.00 and decorate in readiness for Children in Need.
Christmas Cards – this year FroWS have organised the Christmas card design again. Children will be creating their designs this week and when these have been processed, further details, and a proof of your child’s design will be sent home, in readiness to order for Christmas posting.
On the theme of Christmas, although it seems so far away, we will need to organise our Christmas School Lunch over two days. Foundation, Year 1 & Year 2 will be having their lunch on Tuesday 8th December and KS2 on Thursday 10th December. Unfortunately we cannot provide for all on the same day. Again, details of this will be sent out in the near future, with payments to be made through ParentPay.
Hopefully you saw the article on our joint project with The University of Plymouth – Connections. Whilst we have publicised the event, at this stage we are not sure whether this will now take place. If not, hopefully we will get a virtual tour, as it would be such a shame not to see the exhibition and work as a whole. We will keep you updated in the meantime.

With the change in COVID status, a reminder to maintain social distancing, especially on the school site. Where possible, please wear a mask and maintain the bubble timings. We are awaiting further announcements this week and will update you with any necessary amendments to our plans and procedures.
In the meantime keep safe and scatter kindness. I look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
