World Book Day

A fabulous celebration of words! Outfits were also amazing with the effort parents, grandparents and children out in. The children were truly inspired by the book ‘Lost Words’ and produced some wonderful poetry and art work. Thank you for your support.

World Book Day News

Mad Science

Two days on the trot out of uniform, but well worth it for scientist impressions! What a brilliant way to start Science/STeAM Week.

Today started off with an assembly from the Aquarium and children were excited by sharks! This week has a range of planned activities. It is unfortunate that the planned, Marine Biologist Day, for five of our Marine Champions, has been cancelled due to Coronavirus, but no doubt there will be other in-school activities that will be just as enjoyable and informative.

Throughout the week we are selling raffle tickets (50p each) for two prizes. (Slime for EYFS & KS1 and Connex for KS2, please see photos.) Tickets are available from Mrs Brooking all week and names will be drawn on Monday 16th March, during assembly. Good luck!

Please check the 'Our Learning Journey' section of Year group pages for more.

Website App & Online Booking

Further to my Blog last week and contact forms sent out, a reminder to those who have not yet returned forms to do so asap so that we can set you up for texts and emails via the new system.

Pupil-Led Consultations - These are in the process of being set up. A link will be sent out via email to enable you to book online. Please check your inbox and junk box as the email will linked to Primarysite rather than Wembury Primary. Please note this will only be sent to the priority contact so it is imperative forms are returned with the correct contact details. We will of course inform you via text when these have been set up and ready to book

Spring Disco – New Date

Please make a note of the change of date. The school disco is now on Friday, April 17th 2020. Unfortunately the DJ has had to re-arrange this and this is the next available date.

As usual there have been many sporting activities going on throughout last week. Please take a look at the news article where you will find further links to - KS1 Gymnastics, Year 2 Football and the DRSA Swimming event.

Go Wembury!

French Links

Today is the first day for our French students, Amelyne and Audrey. They will be with us for the next four weeks (three in school). A couple of parents came forward to host their last week 29th March-3rd April 2020, if you are still willing and would like one or both to stay with you that week, please could you make contact with the school again. Thank you.

It is unfortunate that Year 3 pupils from Locmaria may now not be able visit us soon due to their government’s ruling & guidance on Coronavirus. This has also had implications for our Year 6 who were due to attend a residential in France, later in June. No decision is easy, in these times of uncertainty, but please rest assured that any decision we do take will be guided by the DfE, as this was, and will be in the best interests of all.  Please see the latest guidance below.

Coronavirus Update

Latest Update

This is your daily email to keep you updated on the government’s response to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Exam preparation and Ofqual advice

We recognise that students, parents, schools and colleges will be concerned about the possible impact of coronavirus on the 2020 summer exam series. Ofqual’s advice at this time is to continue to prepare for exams and other assessments as normal.

Ofqual continues to work closely with exam boards, other regulators and the Department for Education to plan for a range of scenarios, as the public would expect. Our overriding priorities are fairness to students this summer and keeping disruption to a minimum.

It is still many weeks until exams start and we will issue updated advice if necessary, giving schools and colleges as much notice as possible.

The latest updates from Ofqual can be found here:

Department for Education coronavirus helpline

The Department for Education coronavirus helpline is now available to answer questions about COVID-19 relating to education and children’s social care. Staff, parents and young people can contact this helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)

If you work in a school, please have your unique reference number (URN or UKPRN) available when calling the helpline.
