Tis the Season to be Jolly! Christmas festivities are in abundance.
Pennywell Farm
Becoming a bit of an annual event, Foundation went on a Christmas trip to Pennywell Farm. This year they were joined by the Pre-school. The Nativity story is told through the farm’s animals and barn, with the children, and adults, dressing up as the story characters. They feasted on a Christmas biscuit and a juice and also got to meet Father Christmas.

Robin Hood
If you didn’t get to see the production of Robin Hood, by the Wembury Drama Group, you missed a treat! It was lovely to see current and ex pupils taking lead roles and performing brilliantly. It was also great seeing some of the village characters acting out their alter ego! There was the usual good humour, banter and ‘corny’ jokes and there was definite audience participation! Thank you to FroWS for the free, warming, mulled wine with mince pies, popcorn and sweets, and for manning the evening so well. Thanks also to the drama group for donating the evening to FroWS and the school. A great start to getting in the Christmas spirit.
Christmas Tree Lighting
The countdown to the lighting of the tree was a success, it is now shining in all its glory. Mr Clarke organised a fabulous evening, that was enjoyed by many. Although missing the ‘Three Tenors’ this year we were beautifully entertained by the ‘Carousel Quartet Singers’ and Wembury Primary School children. It was a delightful evening visited by Father Christmas and with music played by the Laira Youth Band. Well done Mr Clarke.
Mount Edgcumbe Y5
You don’t usually associate World War 2 with Mount Edgcumbe but that’s exactly what happened for Year 5, as part of their WW2 topic. They travelled across the Cremyll ferry to Mount Batten, where they visited and experienced an air raid shelter and learnt many local and historical facts about WW2. It looks like they had an adventurous day. Click on the link below for more.
Christmas Lunch
School Christmas lunch is this Wednesday 11th, please ensure you book online, via ParentPay, whether you are entitled to free school meals or not. FroWS are again, once kindly providing crackers and hats, and their Elves will be helping serve the lunch.

The community could use your talent!
Yealm Community Energy contributes £20K to the parishes around the Yealm every year - the surplus funds from the solar farm at Newton Downs, and in future from Creacombe. We need help from a volunteer prepared to spend 1 hour/week on social media on our behalf; and two more people prepared to be directors of this Community Benefit Society, one with business experience and familiarity with spreadsheet analysis; and someone with legal experience. We also have a paid position for a part time Operations Manager - see job description on our website.
