Elements of Exercise

In PE this half term, we will be learning about the different elements of fitness. In today's session, we began by warming up and discussing the changes in heart rate and reasons for this. Next, we played different variations of a chase game and discussed the different elements of fitness, focusing on: strength, speed, stamina and being supple. We discussed which elements were needed most for the different roles within the game as well as discussing which elements were needed for different Olympic events. After this, the children put their stamina to the test as we ran a few laps of the field and again monitored changes to heart rate.
