Extra curricular football matches

9/12/2016 - Our football Fridays continued this week with another away game this time at Shakespeare Primary school. A late kick off meant we were up against the clock and managed two twenty five minute halves. The Wembury boys were on top form today, some great shows of teamwork and some super quick feet resulted in a 8 - 1 win.
The Shakespeare team had some good attacks on goal, defended well and gave us a good game but Wembury had the edge today with most of the team claiming at least one goal. The boys were joined today by some extra defenders Lennie Skilton-Husbands and Alexander Withey putting on a good first performance. A great way to end this terms Football extravaganza. Roll on 2017!!
25/11/2016 - What a fantastic show from our year 5/6 football team today. Eight team members traveled to Bickleigh Down Primary school to play a 7 a side inter school friendly match.
The game got off to a fast start with Bickleigh Down scoring the opening goal, closely followed by their second, but Wembury were not done yet! They came back with two goals in quick succession by Aidan West making it 2-2 just before half time. Wembury started strong in the second half dominating the possession of the ball with a few unlucky chances on goal. Bram Hulme-Golding kept the scores equal by showcasing his amazing goal keeping talent, and then Bickleigh Down managed to sneak in their third. In true Wembury fashion the boys dug deep and Kai Western equalized in the last few minutes making the score 3-3.
A tremendous effort by all involved, well done to the team Harvey, Aidan, Kai, Dylan, Bram, Oliver, Rafa and Jack who remain undefeated in our inter school matches.
Comments from Bickleigh Down coaches were that Wembury were the best team they had played so far and they had expected to win, not to come up against a team like ours.
Well done Wembury, we are looking forward to the return match on our home pitch in two weeks.
