This Friday, Year 4 and 5 were extremely lucky to be visited by the Future Makes team who spent a whole day with the children. The day began by exploring some simple construction techniques using cardboard and then the children moved on to study an artist called James Lake, who makes amazing cardboard sculptures. Inspired, the children produced their own cardboard artwork. The afternoon session began with some design work to create a building that would withstand shaking, water and wind. Finally, the designs were tested and evaluated. Throughout the day, the children were encouraged to plan, test and adapt their strategies whilst working as part of a team to communicate and listen to each others ideas. Not only did the children have great fun but they have learnt some important skills which we can continue to develop within our next Design Technology activities.
