It was the girl's turn in football this week with the second round of the Plymouth school's knockout competition. Wembury had drawn Whitleigh Primary for this match and the visiting team travelled to our home pitch for the driest afternoon of the week.
In a close knit match the two teams were at a 2-2 draw at the end of 40 minutes so golden goal extra time was played. This resulted in deadlock too, so due to the game being in a knockout competition the teams had to go head to head in a penalty shoot out.
In the true spirit of the game, both teams of girls rose to the challenge. Shots were missed, scored and saved and Whitleigh ended victorious. Smiles all around though proving that it really is the taking part that counts.
