In maths this morning, we explored measurement by looking at various objects, including different food items. The children were able to feel the the mass and volume of items which were all different shapes and sizes, giving them an understanding of what 1 kilogram and 1 litre look and feel like. Following this, everyone had a go at estimating the mass of a butternut squash, the volume of a partly filled water bottle and the number of grains of rice in a 2kg bag of rice. Quite a challenge! We will reveal the closest estimations in our harvest assembly tomorrow! We also completed an interesting investigation involving the amount of money the Shekinah Mission charity raised in one day and which coins this could be made with.
