Two teams of eight, (4 x boys and 4 x girls) entered the Plymouth Indoor Rowing Championships this week.
The children had had the opportunity to practise and were chosen because of the distance they had rowed within a specific time.
They had to perform as an individual for two minutes and later as a team each rowing for 30 seconds and where the change over and team work was crucial.
Wembury came away with a number of medals (certificates actually!)
Team A WON overall! (There were at least 20 teams there from across Plymouth and we were probably the smallest school there.)
Their team work was commended and the distance was incredible.
Although Team B did not gain a top position they again demonstrated brilliant team work.
On an individual basis -
Harvey came 2nd overall in the boy's event
Rebecca came 3rd overall in the girl's event
Olyvia won the Ergo Golf competition. This was where you had to complete a distance within a certain amount of strokes.

We were also very lucky to have Chloe Brew (Youth National Indoor Champion) come to visit and present the children with their trophy. Chloe attends Coombe Dean and became interested in rowing after a Year 8 indoor event. She is soon off to trial for the GB team and we wish her all the luck.
Hopefully our children have felt inspired by this event and now have aspirations and the determination to continue rowing. Who knows where they may be in a few years time?
Well done to all our rowers and a huge thank you to Chloe for taking the time to visit our rowers.
