Our Year 6 footballers put in some fantastic performances this afternoon, making it through to the semi-finals of this year's city-wide Kids' Cup. The boys won three, drew one and lost one to go through as runners-up in their group of six teams. Matching last year's performance, we reached the semi-finals again but unfortunately lost out to a very strong Woodford team.
We started off with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manadon Vale, before getting our first point against Whitchurch (who we are also playing in the 2nd round of the Knockout Cup next week), with a 1-1 draw. Next, after throwing away a 2-0 lead, we managed to score a late winner against Bickleigh Down to win 3-2. We are also due to play Bickleigh again on Friday, in our Plymouth Primary Schools Football League, - a very important match as we are currently 3rd (out of 12 teams) and they are 4th in the league table.
In our following game, we managed another 3-2 win against one of Woodford's two teams, meaning we had to beat Chaddlewood in the final group game to progress. They were also on 7 points after 4 games. In what was a very fast-paced game, we managed to record yet another 3-2 win in order to seal second place and a semi final spot. However, we were unable to make the next step, losing in a tough game against Woodford's other team. Once again, we over-achieved, beating 3 teams from schools twice the size of ours, putting in some brilliant performances. From the super saves and strong tackles, to the silky passing and super shots, the boys should be proud of their performances. They were great ambassadors for the school! Well done.
