What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding given to state-funded schools, to provide support, benefit and raise the attainment of eligible pupils.
There are 4 elements to Pupil Premium:
1. Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility (This is NOT the same as Universal Infant Free School Meal - see below. )
2. Service Children
3. Adopted Children from Social Care
4. Children in Care
Each category attracts a different amount of funding. This funding is additional to the school budget and allocated to provide support, resources (including additional adults), or financial support on residential weeks/discounted trips. A Pupil Premium entitlement may also attract other benefits, or localised incentives. For further information please refer to our school administrators.
Free School Meal eligibility should not be confused with Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) where all pupils in EYFS, Year 1 & 2 are eligible for a school lunch. Pupil Premium is based upon the Free School Meal criteria. It is important that pupils within KS1 are still recorded as eligible for Free School Meals to ensure Pupil Premium funding is granted. Therefore, Parents, who meet the criteria, should check their eligibilty.
