Plymouth SSP Primary Athletics @ Brickfields
Forty-five primary schools took part in the annual Plymouth SSP Primary Athletics at Brickfields. Children from years 3-6 take part in a range of competitive events. Track events include: flat races, 200m and relays. Field events include: long jump, vertical jump and vortex throwing.
Our team did an amazing job in the heats, coming in the top three for many with some firsts—Jessica in the 100m and the boys’ 3/4 relay team, racing round like rockets! Emily Gitlin also won her 200m, with Matthew MacBean coming 2nd in his heat. The girls’ 5/6 relay team were also first in their heat. The top two from each heat went into the finals, including Emily Spencer who came 2nd in her 60m race. Unfortunately we could not build on this success but all gave amazing performances. Although we did not gain any placing in the race finals we did pick up two third places overall, with Angus Cotton in the vertical jump and Emily Gitlin in the long jump. All athletes need to be congratulated for performing so well but also for being such good ambassadors for the school.
Well done -
