Wembury Marine Champions
On Thursday, 9 children attended a Marine Wildlife Champions Conference at the National Marine Aquarium. The children; Rachel Paul, Jake Fordy (Year 2), Emily Spencer, Robbie King (Year 3), India Skilton-Dower, Thomas King (Year 4), Edith Warne, Ella Pearson and Abbie Twiddy (Year 6) presented the work that they had done all about the oceans and the problems that they face. The project, set up by Devon Wildlife Trust and the National Marine Aquarium, has been running for several months and has involved 10 schools from across the Plymstock area. Each of the schools had the opportunity to present their work to all the other children and staff from the aquarium and Wildlife Trust. Joining them was the local MP, Gary Streeter, representatives from Living Coasts and the press. The children did an amazing job and everybody was impressed by their designs for a Marine Conservation Zone. All of the children involved have shared their learning with the other children in their schools, with the aim to spread awareness about the threats to our seas and the need for immediate action to protect these magnificent habitats. A huge well done to the children involved!
