Science Week 13th March 2017 laugh

This week is science week. We have been learning all about the magic of science and have loved all of the fun and exciting activities. We have made exploding volcanoes, had visitors to show us skeletons and microscopes and visited the farm.

Spring Term- The Very Hungry Caterpillar...

Welcome back!

This term we will be learning all about 'space' and our chosen story is 'The Way Back Home'. The children are busy learning the story and retelling it in their own words. They are learning Makaton signs too. Ask your child to show you the sign for cupboard, aeroplane, climb or boy. They have also made rockets out of junk modelling and they have painted planets. We have also studied Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night and the children have painted their own versions. The children have been learning to write instructions and have produced booklets to accompany their rockets. They have also been learning about shapes and positional language as well as problem solving. In PE they have been learning all about gymnastics.   Take a look at our photographs...

It's Christmas!

Our trip to Pennywell Farm

We had an amazing time at Pennywell Farm. We travelled in a big bus for nearly an hour! When we arrived, some of us took part in the Christmas Nativity with real animals. Then we went to the cafe for a drink and a biscuit and waited for Santa. We saw Santa in his grotto and he gave us all a present! We played in the tractor barn and we had lunch. As a special treat we had a ride on the train before we travelled back to school.

It was a special day out with our  friends and teachers.

Today we had our Christmas dinner. It was delicious!frown

Making sandwiches for the Little Red Hen!

The Little red Hen sent us a message...

In English, we designed a sandwich and we wrote labels to show what our filings would be.

We looked at our designs and read our labels.

Then we buttered our bread and started to make our sandwiches.

Our finished sandwiches!
Eating our sandwiches... yum yum!

Our New Phonics Area

RE Week 17th-21st October
We had a lovely week learning about 'people and communities'. We started the week thinking about what was special to us. Then we walked to the Church and met the Vicar. The Church was beautiful and atmospheric. When we returned to school, we made our own stained glass windows and made stained glass window biscuits! We also designed postcards and drew pictures of our visit. At the end of the week our parents came to look at our work in the hall.

Our Wonderful Dads!

17.10.16

Thank you to all the brilliant Dads and Grandads that attended the 'Bring your Dad to School' morning.  All the children thoroughly enjoyed making scarecrows and planting spring bulbs. A special well done to Mr Beale winning first prize!

We love listening to stories!
A great story!

Phonics!

We have been busy learning our letter sounds. So far we have learnt 6 sounds! We are learning to recognise these sounds, write them with the correct formation and say them correctly! We are also learning to  blend sounds together to read, and to segment words to spell.

You can make lots of words from these 6 sounds and we are having fun finding them out.

We have been playing games to help us learn our phonics.

Learning to hear initial sounds and learning to blend!

Our Class Photo

The new Foundation class have settled fantastically into school life. Already, they have been busy getting used to their new routines and making friends. They have enjoyed their first school lunch and are looking forward to their first full day on Thursday.
