Sturdy Structures

The theme for British Science Week 2017 is 'changes'. This morning we discussed the different changes that take place around us. One of the first suggestions was the weather so we explored how weather affects the safety and stability of different structures. Armed with marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti, the first task for each group was to design their structure. Next, the children got to work creating their various designs, showing great team work and enthusiasm. Finally, after completing the building of our structures, we put them through wind and earthquake tests; there was mixed results!
