Super, Staddiscombe Cross Country Success

The Level 2 Cross Country annual event at  Staddiscombe is always a highlight of the year.

38 schools from across Plymouth were in attendance, adding to the incredible atmosphere that surrounds the event - regardless of the weather!

Races are run in years 3/4 and 5/6, boys and girls. Teams are only allowed to consist of 6 runners so 3 boys and 3 girls from each year group.

Wembury runners literally ran their socks off with some amazing finishing places which included Archie from Year 3 coming in an outstanding 4th place! And a large number of our other runners placing in top 10 and 20's.

As it is a team event, they take the places of the runners and add them together. The lowest scoring team coming in first team place etc. our super Wembury teams this year placed:

Girls yr 3/4 4th place.

Boys yr 3/4 2nd place.

Girls yr 5/6 3rd place.

Boys yr 5/6 2nd place.

Wow! This means that ALL of our teams have managed to qualify for the Devon Winter Games early next year.

Plenty of cross country between now and then which is open to all of our children to attend from KS2 which includes running club on Wednesday lunch times, build up miles for the Half Marathon Challenge and the Plymstock Road Runner races after Christmas. Dates for these will follow when announced.
