It was wonderful to have children from five of the Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) schools gathered together at Wembury to take part in our Maths Challenge Day. Year 5 children from Oreston, Dunstone, Woodlands Park and Yealmpton joined us for a day of problem solving, reasoning, exploration and investigation. The children were encouraged to work together to tackle a range of fun, engaging maths problems. They were noticing things, discussing solutions, considering alternative solutions and developing perseverance and resilience when faced with challenging tasks. Particular favourites were the camel story, magic maths and making cubes! Despite a whole day of maths, all children were a credit to their schools, showing excellent teamwork and brilliant behaviour thoroughout the day. It was also lovely to see children working with those from other schools. The feedback from the children was very positive, as you'll see below, in the pictures, with their written responses. Well done to all children!
